The Doe Fund’s Rapid Re-Housing program provides housing assessment, placement and stabilization services to homeless adults, including: housing search and placement assistance; lease negotiations; housing stabilization services; payment of security deposit, first month’s rent and/or rental assistance and moving assistance.
We are seeking to hire a Housing Stabilization Specialist Aide for our Philadelphia Facility, located at 1211 Bainbridge Street, Philadelphia, PA.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for maintaining new and existing relationships with landlords and housing programs.
- Assist with lease and move-in negotiations between Rapid Re-Housing participants and landlords to ensure smooth transition into housing units.
- Ensure all apartments are maintained to meet all relevant laws and regulations, building and safety codes for the duration of connection with Rapid Re-Housing participant. And facilitate apt repairs with landlord and tenant as needed.
- Assess all Rapid Re-Housing participants to determine eligibility for the Rapid Re-Housing program and determine needs of referrals using the Uniform Self-Sufficiency Assessment Tool.
- Use interviewing and other professional techniques to assess Rapid Re-Housing participants’ problems, needs and progress.
- Implement housing and budget plans, and assistance packages designed by the Senior Housing Stabilization Specialist for all Rapid Re-Housing Participants.
- Assist Rapid Re-Housing participants with all aspects of moving from shelter to housing, including: moving, utility connections, neighborhood familiarization, and facilitation of the establishment of links to any needed services, such as health care (physical and mental), financial management, and substance abuse services, etc.
- Visit Rapid Re-Housing participants in their homes as needed and deemed appropriate by the Senior Housing Specialist.
- Responsible for the entry of all required information into a provided database and the production reports as requested.
- Perform other related assignments as directed by Senior Housing Stabilization Specialist and Director of Programs and Supportive Housing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, with two (2) years related experience; or BA and one (1) years related experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of assessment procedures
- Knowledge of case management, i.e. intake, assessment, service plan development, service plan implementation, referral process, and follow-up.
- Ability to keep records, prepare progress and other reports.
- Demonstrated ability to network and collaborate with non-profit service providers, landlords.
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and insured vehicle.
- Computer literate; including familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, as well as web- searching.
- Understand and follow strict confidentiality policies and HIPPA laws.
PREFERRED:
- Fluency in Spanish
- Experience working with homeless people.
- Knowledge of referral procedures, admittance criteria, and components of services of appropriate health care, community providers, and other related agencies in Philadelphia.
